SIGN THE WAIVER

Safety is the highest priority.

Every player is required to read these rules prior to signing the waiver and attending the game day safety briefing. Players who have signed the waiver in the last 6 months do not need to sign again.

1. Safety Rules

1.1 Eye Protection

Eye protection (“eyepro”) is required at all times while on the playing field, during chrono, or anytime there is risk of an airsoft gun being fired. Eyepro must meet ANSI Z87.1 standards. Any game organizer or admin reserves the right to remove any player from an event if eyepro is deemed unsafe or does not meet ANSI Z87.1 rating standards.

1.2 Real World Emergency (“No Duff”)

If, at any time during gameplay, you witness or are a part of a real world emergency, the phrase “No Duff” should be yelled. “No Duff” is the standard term across the province that, when heard during a game, means the game must immediately stop. It is important to yell “No Duff” three (3) times when observing or being a part of a real world emergency.

If you hear “No Duff” while on the field, immediately repeat “No Duff” three (3) times to ensure everyone across the field is alerted. When you hear “No Duff”, you must:

  • Cease fire and immediately repeat the phrase three (3) times
  • Put your airsoft gun on safety
  • Remove your magazine
  • Remain where you are

Admins and game organizers will investigate the emergency and take the appropriate action to remediate the situation. Once handled appropriately, organizers/admins will begin calling out “Game on”, which signals gameplay can continue. When you hear “Game On” called, you should repeat this in a yell.

Examples of “No Duff” situations include (but are not limited to): eyepro falling off, injury, or an immediate hazard that could cause injury.

1.3 Lasers

Lasers are not permitted on any field, during any event, including infrared (IR). Lasers and IR can cause permanent vision damage and are not permitted under any circumstances. Individuals with attachments that include a laser must have a permanent, non-removable cover.

1.4 Age Restrictions

  • To play unaccompanied by a guardian, you must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Individuals under 18 are permitted to play airsoft, but they must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
  • Minors must complete a waiver for the field signed by their legal guardian.
  • You must be at least 12 years old to play.

2. General Game Regulations

2.1 Mercy (“Bang, Bang”)

This rule is subject to the field owners and/or game organizers and will be discussed during game briefs. In some circumstances during gameplay you may find yourself close to point-blank range from an opposing player. Mercy rule states that you may call out “Bang, Bang” rather than shooting the opposing player from close range.

This rule is often not supported and is discretionary to players on the field. If you hear “Bang, Bang” you may choose to accept it and proceed with the kill rules of the game, or attempt to fire a BB. If you choose not to accept it and the opposing player shoots you before you shoot them, you are considered killed in action (KIA) and should follow the KIA rules of the game.

2.2 Friendly Fire

This rule is subject to field owners and/or game organizers and will be discussed during game briefs. When friendly fire is ON, you must follow KIA rules if hit by a member of your own team. If friendly fire is OFF, receiving a hit from a friendly does not count as KIA.

2.3 Calling Hits

Airsoft is built on integrity and honesty. If you are hit at any time by an opposing player, you are required to yell “Hit” and follow the KIA rules for the game. All game organizers reserve the right to remove you from a game if you are observed not calling hits.

If you suspect someone is not calling hits, do not engage them—inform an admin or organizer. Players do not have authority over other players to call hits.

2.4 Blind Firing

Blind firing is not permitted. Blind firing occurs when you are shooting and cannot see down the barrel of your gun, for example:

  • Aiming around/above cover without looking
  • Aiming around a door without looking
  • Firing while positioned behind glass/transparent doors
  • Protruding your gun through cracks/holes while protected from return fire

Generally: if you are completely protected from being hit while you are firing, it may be considered blind firing.

2.5 Joule Limits

Some fields may differ—confirm at chrono if anything changes for an event.

  • CQB Limit: 1.5 Joules
  • DMR: 1.5 – 1.9 Joules
  • Sniper: 1.9+ Joules

2.5.1 Minimum Engagement Distance (MED)

  • CQB: No MED
  • DMR: 50 ft (no firing inside 50 ft)
  • Sniper: 100 ft (no firing inside 100 ft)

Game organizers/admins reserve the right to remove you from the game if you are breaking MED rules due to safety concerns.

3. Additional Rules

3.1 Smoking

  • Smoking (including vaping) is only permitted in the designated smoking area or off-site on the public street.
  • Smoking is prohibited in the common area tent, staging area, or anywhere inside the play zones.
  • Dispose of cigarette butts responsibly using provided containers.

3.2 Parking

  • All vehicles must be parked in the designated parking area. Parking is only allowed on the public street.
  • Do not park in front of or block fire hydrants, gates, or emergency access points.
  • Failure may result in towing and potential fines (we will request a move first when possible).
  • No overnight parking unless explicitly approved by staff.
  • Drive slowly—this is an active recreational area with foot traffic, including children.

3.3 Noise and Music

  • Personal speakers are permitted only in the staging/common area at low to moderate volume.
  • Disruptive/offensive/excessively loud music is not tolerated.
  • During safety briefings or announcements, music must be off entirely.
  • Respect the surrounding community—maintain good neighbor relations.

3.4 Food and Beverages

  • Players may bring their own food, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Clean up after yourself—use trash and recycling bins.
  • If food is sold on site, respect posted menus, wait times, and food prep areas.

3.5 Respect for Staff and Other Players

  • Verbal abuse, threats, harassment, or aggressive behavior results in immediate ejection and may lead to a permanent ban.
  • Follow staff instructions promptly—rules exist for everyone’s safety.
  • Be a good sport on and off the field. Disputes are handled by staff.
  • Escalating arguments or refusing to cooperate will not be tolerated.

3.6 Lost & Found

  • Players are responsible for their personal gear and belongings.
  • We are not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
  • Found items should be turned in to the main check-in desk. Items kept for 30 days before discarding/donating.
  • Label your gear—this greatly increases return chances.

3.7 Photo & Video Consent

By entering the premises, players consent to being photographed or filmed by field staff or approved media personnel for promotional, safety, or archival purposes. Images/videos may be used on social media, websites, advertisements, and printed materials related to the field.

If you do not wish to appear in media, notify staff at check-in and wear the provided indicator (e.g., colored tape or badge). Reasonable efforts will be made, but exclusion is not guaranteed (crowd shots/background/incidental captures).

3.8 Age Limit

You must be a minimum age of 12 to play. All minors must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian for the entirety of the game day.

3.9 Posture of Play Rule (Spawn Areas)

Players inside spawn areas must visibly indicate they are not in play by keeping their weapon in a safe position — either sul (muzzle down, buttstock centered on chest) or low ready (muzzle pointed at the ground, not toward opponents).

Any player holding their weapon in a firing-ready stance (high ready, shouldered, or aimed outward) is considered active in play, regardless of whether they are inside the spawn zone. If you appear combat-ready, you are fair game.

Any hit received in this posture must be called immediately, even if the player believes they are still within spawn boundaries.

ID checks

Airsoft Arena Ltd. reserves the right to request identification to verify age at the field’s discretion.
